Explore the rangeWhen a bag becomes a mobile workplace
A backpack is more than a bag with two straps: it is the interface between your team and the journey to work. The corporate backpack from the onboarding kit has to transport the new employee's 15-inch laptop safely between home office and office – padded, with a separate compartment, reflective details for the bike ride at dusk. The roadshow handout backpack lands on 200 trade show stands and still has to appeal to the recipient two years later so that the logo continues to walk through the city centre. The sports bag at the clubhouse is thrown into the boot after every training session and still lasts three seasons – if material and stitching are right. The trades tool backpack organises bits, pliers and measuring devices in dedicated compartments and replaces the classic tool bag on field service. What separatesi these models technically is volume, padding, compartment concept and material thickness. What connects them culturally: a backpack is the first visible piece of kit an employee, customer or club member picks up in the morning – and that carries your brand through the city. Here we show which model suits which use, and with which filters you can get to the right configuration most quickly.

What the Backpack properties really mean
So you can decide with confidence: here we explain the five most important product characteristics of backpacks in detail - with meaning, sensible applications and concrete buying tips.
Volume (litres)
How much the Backpack holds
The capacity determines the target group and use case. 5 to 12 L are mini and kids' backpacks for giveaways. 15 to 22 L cover business and everyday use with a laptop. 25 to 30 L are the standard for sport, fitness and weekend trips. 40+ L are travel and trekking backpacks as a hand-luggage substitute.
Laptop compartment & padding
Safe transport for laptop and tablet
A padded laptop compartment is the most important feature difference between a business and a simple sports backpack. Standard sizes are 13, 15 and 15.6 inches – less frequently 17 inches for large gaming and workstation laptops. Important are separate access (zip from outside), foam padding on top and bottom and a raised bottom edge so that the notebook does not land on a hard floor.
Material & Denier
What material the backpack is made of
600D Polyesteri is the established classic: robust, price-stable, well printable. 300D Ripstopi polyester is the lighter alternative for fashion and everyday backpacks. rPETi from recycled PET bottles delivers an identical look with a better CO2 footprint. PVC-coated tarpaulin materials are completely waterproofi for bike and boat use. Cottoni backpacks are the niche for fashion and sustainability campaigns.
Carry system & ergonomics
How the Backpack is distributed over shoulders and back
A good carrying system determines comfort even when fully loaded. Padded S-shaped straps relieve the trapezius muscle, a chest strap keeps the straps in position, a back pad with ventilation channels prevents a sweaty back. On travel backpacks, a hip belt is added that can transfer weight to the pelvis and relieve the shoulders. For cycling use, reflective elements on straps and back are important.
Compartment concept & organiser
How the interior is structured
The compartment concept decides whether the backpack really works for the target group. Business backpacks typically feature a large main compartment with a laptop slot, an organiser front pocket for pens, cards and cables, and an outer zip pocket for quick access. Sport backpacks focus on a large main compartment with a separate shoe or wet compartment in the base. Tool backpacks have dozens of elastic loops for bits, pliers and small parts.

Budget giveaway for campaigns

The key backpack brands
Six manufacturers cover over 90% of all Backpack orders – from German B2B specialist Halfar via British streetwear classic BagBase to Spanish value-for-money brand Stamina. Here is what each brand stands for.
Halfar
Bielefeld manufacturer with the broadest functional backpack range in the German-speaking B2B market. Business, tool and fashion backpacks with well-thought-out compartment concepts, German-language product documentation and stable reordering. First choice for corporate kit, field-service rollouts and tool backpacks in the trades.
BagBase
British brand with the largest fashion and streetwear backpack range in our portfolio. Huge colour palette (up to 13 colours per model including multi-colour, camouflage and heather), modern silhouettes such as roll-top, faux leather and leopard print. The go-to choice for roadshow handouts, club merch and everything with everyday utility for the recipient.
Quadra
British business-oriented brand within the same corporate group as BagBase, with a clear focus on laptop-ready corporate backpacks and travel models. Clean finishing, padded compartments and a modern business look - the compromise between BagBase fashion and Halfar functionality.
Bags2GO
Compact brand with a focused range of price-sensitive promotional goods and basic backpacks. No fashion ambition, no special features – but solid base quality and prices that become noticeable on volume orders from 100 units. Standard for summer festivals and promotional weeks.
L-merch
Promo brand for basic promotional-goods kit with a clear focus on simple fashion and sports backpacks. No aspiration to premium fit-out – but the right choice for quick giveaway campaigns with subtle printing.
Stamina

Which fabric, which cut?
Not every material and not every cut suits every project. Here you will find the right combination.
600D Polyester
With 79 models the dominant material combination in the Backpack range: 600 Denieri Polyesteri in body weave, robust, shape-retaining and readily printable by Screen printingi or transfer. Typical application from business via fashion to sports backpacks – the material withstands years of everyday stress without straps stretching out or zips jamming. Value-for-money leader for all volume orders from 25 units.
rPET (recycled Polyester)
6 models in recycled polyesteri (rPETi), obtained from processed PET bottles. Identical look, robustness and finish as standard 600D – significantly reduced CO2 footprint and the fitting answer to CSR tenders and sustainability reports. Top models are the BG285 Recycled Backpack, the BG286 Rolltop and the BG870 Roll-Top with laptop compartment. Price premium over conventional polyester is one to two euros per unit.
PVC & tarpaulin
4 models in PVC-coated polyesteri or tarpaulin with welded or bonded seams. The decisive difference to 'water-resistanti' backpacks: here the contents stay dry at any rain intensity, because neither material nor seam lets water through. Standard for bike couriers, boat crew, construction-site field service and all rain-exposed uses. Cleaning is particularly easy: rinse off with a garden hose.
Padding & carry system
Carrying comfort comes less from the outer material than from padding and ergonomics: padded S-shaped shoulder strapsi relieve the trapezius muscle over longer carrying distances, a chest strap stabilises the straps during movement and prevents slipping. Ventilated back panels with air-mesh channels keep the back dry even in summer field work. From 30 L travel volume, a hip belt is added that transfers the weight noticeably onto the pelvis and takes the load off the shoulders.
Taking responsibility
Organic Cotton, Fairtrade, recycled materials: sustainability is our standard.
Backpacks in recycled Polyesteri (rPETi) from reprocessed PET bottles – the CSR entry with a moderate premium
waterproofi models from lorry tarpaulin with welded seams for uncompromising weather protection
in the range - from Halfar and BagBase as volume classics to Stamina and Neutral as specialist suppliers
All about Backpacks
For corporate onboarding and everyday business with a 13- to 15-inch laptop, notebook and change of clothes, 18 to 22 litres is enough. For sports, gym and fitness, 25 to 30 litres is the standard – with room for a change of shoes, towel and sports kit. For roadshow handouts and fashion giveaways, 15 to 20 litres is ideal so the recipient continues to use the backpack privately. For travel, trekking and business trips without a suitcase, go for 35 to 45 litres with a hip belt and compression straps – hand-luggage compatible and replaces the weekend suitcase. Rule of thumb: better 5 litres less than 5 litres too much – a half-empty backpack looks unfinished on the recipient.
Firstly, the correct size is important: 90% of all business laptops are between 13 and 15.6 inches - a 15.6-inch compartment will happily accommodate smaller models. For genuine 17-inch gaming or workstation laptops, check the compartment dimensions explicitly, as many business Backpacks only go up to 15.6 inches. Secondly, the padding: a good laptop compartment has foam on the top and bottom plus a raised base edge - so the laptop does not land on a hard floor when put down. Thirdly, access: a separate zip accessible from the outside speeds up the security check at the airport and prevents mix-ups on train journeys. For corporate kit, we also recommend a separate tablet compartment, as many teams carry both devices.
600D Polyesteri is the established B2B standard: robust, shape-stable, well printable by screen printingi or transfer and stable in price. The right choice for 80% of all corporate and club backpacks. rPETi is recycled polyester from PET bottles with an identical look and robustness but a significantly better CO2 footprint – the fitting answer to CSR tenders and sustainability reports, with a moderate premium of one to two euros per unit. PVCi tarpaulin is completely waterproofi with welded seams – the niche for bike couriers, boat crew and all rain-exposed field service. Cottoni backpacks are a small fashion niche for retail give-aways with a soft hand. 300D Ripstopi is the compromise when weight matters more than maximum ruggedness.
The standard print surface is the front of the main compartment (roughly 20 × 20 cm on medium models) and the front of the front organiser compartment (roughly 12 × 8 cm for a logo). On zip models the print sits above or below the zip curve, on roll-top models below the roll edge. Screen printingi is the standard for B2B runs from 25 units – standard colours sit cleanly on 600D polyesteri. Transfer printingi is the pragmatic choice for smaller runs and multi-colour motifs. Embroidery sits cleanly on cottoni and Cordura models but is not recommended on ripstopi and tarpaulin materials. Important: the print surface must be smooth and flat – on strongly textured or padded areas (such as the back pad) print quality is tricky.
Three features are decisive for cycling use: first, reflective elements on the shoulder strapsi and/or on the back – visibility in commuter traffic, at dusk and in bad weather. Second, a water-repellenti or waterproofi material – on a rainy ride with a laptop in the backpack, this is the difference between an intact and a wet notebook. Third, a chest strap that stabilises the straps and prevents the backpack from sliding forwards when steering or braking. Ideal are roll-top models made of rPETi or tarpaulin with reflective printi – for example the BG138 with reflective outer layer or the BG815 made of waterproof lorry tarpaulin. Additionally helpful: ventilated back pad against sweaty back on longer cycle routes.
Standard cleaning means brushingi or sweeping out the inside (sand, crumbs, paper scraps) and wiping the outside with a damp cloth. Treat stains with a sponge and lukewarm water with neutral soap - never with aggressive cleaners, as they attack the PU coatingi. For a thorough clean, many models can be hand-washed at 30 degrees on a wooli programme (do not spin) - close metal buckles and Velcro fasteners beforehand to avoid material damage. Do not put backpacks with a laptop compartment in the machine, as the padding can deform. Always dry them airily and with the zips open, never in the sun or on a radiator - UV radiation bleaches the colour. Tarpaulin backpacks are especially easy: just rinse them off with a hose.
Yes – for three reasons. First, rPETi is frequently explicitly required in tenders from public and municipal buyers; standard polyesteri is increasingly treated as a knock-out criterion. Second, CSR-oriented corporate customers and young target groups now expect recycled material without needing to be told – its absence is a noticeable perception disadvantage. Third, the surcharge over standard 600D polyesteri at one to two euros per unit is moderate and quickly recouped via positioning and tender eligibility. BagBase Recycled Backpack (BG285), BG286 Roll-Top and BG870 Roll-Top with laptop compartment are reference models for the rPET entry point – look and feel are identical to the conventional counterpart.
Halfar is the German B2B backpack specialist with the broadest functional range: many business and tool backpacks with well-thought-out compartment concepts, often with German-language product documentation and reliable restocking. The first choice for corporate kit and field-service rollouts. BagBase is the British streetwear-oriented volume classic with a huge colour palette and the largest fashion-backpack offering – ideal for roadshow handouts, club merch and anything with everyday utility for the recipient. Quadra is the business orientation in the same corporate group as BagBase, with a clear focus on laptop-capable corporate backpacks and travel models. Bags2GO and L-merch are smaller specialists for price-sensitive campaign goods; Stamina offers Spanish streetwear cuts. Rule of thumb: business and tools – Halfar; fashion and merch – BagBase; business-laptop focus – Quadra.
