Explore the rangeWhen the cap becomes a work tool
A camp and trekking cap is not a fashion cap - it is a tool. The hiking club president wears it on the Sunday tour over the ridge, the outdoor guide on the 8-hour tour through the national park, the angling club at the lake from sunrise to midday, the farmer on the tractor and the site manager on the walkaround when the helmet is too warm. What distinguishes these target groups from the streetwear faction: they wear the cap for hours on end, they sweat under it, they wash it regularly, and they need it functional - not as a statement. Therefore camp and trekking caps are built differently in materials and construction: lightweight polyesteri instead of heavy Cottoni, breathablei ripstopi or microfibrei fabrics instead of closed twilli front, often with attached neck protection flap (Legionnaire's cap) and always with an adjustment system at the back. The aesthetic framework remains the classic baseball silhouette - but inside and out the cap is uncompromisingly optimised for outdoor everyday life. Here we show which material suits which use and which filters will get you to the right model fastest.

What the trekking cap features really mean
So that you can decide with a solid basis: here we explain the five most important product characteristics of Camp and Trekking Caps in detail - with meaning, sensible applications and specific buying tips.
Material & Fibre Composition
What the outdoor cap is made of
100% polyesteri is the standard for trekking caps: lightweight, quick-drying, shape-retaining even after rain. Cottoni ripstopi offers classic outdoor looks with a robust hand. Nylon-polyester combinations are used for rain-resistant models with ear flaps.
UV protection & neck protection flap
How the cap protects against the sun
UPF 50+ means: the cap transmits less than 2.5% of UV radiation - important for hours-long outdoor deployments. Legionnaire caps with an attached neck protection flap extend the protection to the sensitive neck and ear area.
Fit & adjustment system
How the cap sits on the head
One-size with Velcro or buckle closure at the nape covers head circumferences of about 54 to 62 cm – standard for team and club orders. FLEXFIT models rely on knitted Elastanei constructions without a closure and in sizes S/M and L/XL.
Weather protection & function
How the cap defies rain, wind and cold
Water-repellenti nyloni outer materials and waterproofi membrane constructions distinguish trekking caps from pure sun caps. Reflective elements increase visibility at dusk, fleecei lining provides warmth in autumn wind.
Certification & Sustainability
How and where it was produced
OEKO-TEX is standard on most models. Recycled Polyesteri (rPETi) from PET bottles is established on Atlantis models. Fair working conditions and Organic Cottoni play a growing role in the outdoor Cap segment.
Six routes to the right outdoor cap
Whether hiking group, guide team or winter trekking – here are the curated combinations of material, features and brand that work in B2B outdoor everyday use.
Hiking club merch
100% polyester or recycled polyester in one-size adjustment is the sweet spot: light enough for all-day wear, quick-drying after rain, reliably fits 54 to 62 cm head circumference. Ideal for reorders over years.
Guide & nature guide cap with neck protection
Baseball silhouette with attached neck flap made from water-repellent ripstop material. Drawcord or hook-and-loop for individual adjustment, the back remains protected even in low-standing afternoon sun. The professional standard for outdoor guides.
Anglers & bankside kit
Legionnaire cap or rain hat version with integrated neck protection flap – water runs off the flap instead of into the collar. Neutral earth tones do not disturb fish, water-repellent ripstop stands up to rain showers between angling sessions.
Sustainable rPET Cap for nature tours
Recycled Polyester (rPET) from PET bottles as a visible sustainability statement on the guide's head. Consistent eco communication for nature reserves, environmental NGOs and everyone who wants to prove sustainability on their kit too.
FLEXFIT for active wearers
Knitted elastane construction without a closure – sits sock-tight, doesn't slip when running, climbing or bending. Two sizes (S/M and L/XL) instead of one-size adjustment. The crossover fit for active club members and runners.
Winter trekking with ear protection
Waterproof membrane or water-repellent nylon construction combined with foldable, lined ear protectors. More compact than a winter hat, warmer than a plain cap - the right choice for mountain hikers, hunters and autumn anglers.
The most important camp and trekking cap brands
Six manufacturers cover the complete camp and trekking cap range - from FLEXFIT classics through Italian outdoor specialists to British trekking DNA. Here is what each brand stands for.
FLEXFIT
US-American cap specialist that made the knitted elastane construction without a closure at the neck the standard. Sits tightly and snugly like a second skin - the crossover fit for active wearers, runners and clubs with a sporting focus. In S/M and L/XL rather than one-size.
Atlantis
Italian cap specialist with a strongly developed outdoor line and consistent sustainability positioning. Recycled polyester (rPET) and rPET ripstop are established in the trekking models – Nomad Cap and rain hat are the reference models for clubs with eco positioning.
Daiber
German traditional brand of the Daiber group (also distributed under James & Nicholson and myrtle beach) with a solid basic range for cost-efficient team orders. Reliable availability for reorders over years and German distribution without long delivery routes.
Complementary brand line of the Atlantis family with specialised outdoor variants and alternative model orientation. Covers niches which the core Atlantis series does not serve - for clubs and guides looking for a broader selection within a proven brand.
British promotional textile brand with a pronounced focus on weatherproof headwear. The waterproof Mountain Cap CB355 with foldable ear muffs is the reference winter cap classic in the range. Supplemented by the more affordable Recycled Camper Cap CB220R for sustainable everyday use.
British outdoor brand with clear trekking and expedition DNA - originally from the specialist outdoor trade for mountain and desert tours. The Expert line is aimed at guides, nature guides and professional outdoor use with a focus on functional details and robust workmanship.

Which fabric, which cut?
Not every material and not every cut suits every project. Here you will find the right combination.
100% Polyester
With 9 models the dominant material choice in the camp and trekking Cap segment – for good reason: 100% Polyesteri is light, quick-drying and shape-stable even after rain. Absorbs sweat, releases it quickly and does not deform when the Cap sits on the head for hours. The safe choice for hiking clubs, guides, anglers and everyone with all-day outdoor exposure.
Recycled polyester (rPET)
Recycled Polyesteri from PET bottles replaces virgin plastic on several Atlantis and Beechfield models (AT425, AT420 as rPETi ripstopi, CB220R Recycled Fleecei). The hand and function are identical to conventional Polyester – you swap environmental balance and story value for a minimal price premium. Visible sustainability statement for nature conservation clubs and environmental education projects.
Nylon constructions
100% nyloni or nylon-polyester combinations are used for rain-resistant and weather-optimised models - water-repellenti, wind-stable and robust. The Beechfield CB355 combines nylon outer with polyesteri crown and waterproofi membrane for winter trekking with ear flaps. The right choice when the cap has to withstand rain and cold.
Cotton & cotton blends
Cottoni in ripstop constructioni or as a 60/40 mix with polyesteri offers the classic natural-fibre hand and the traditional outdoor look. The FLEXFIT FX7005 uses 60% cotton with 40% polyester, pure cotton is found in classic hiking club models. Robust and durable, but heavier than pure polyester and slower to dry after rain.
Taking responsibility
Organic Cotton, Fairtrade, recycled materials: sustainability is our standard.

All about Camp & trekking caps
Visually both share the classic baseball silhouette with curved peak and panel front – functionally they are worlds apart. Streetwear caps rely on heavy Cottoni twilli fronts and buckram reinforcement because they are built as a fashion accessory. Camp and trekking caps, by contrast, are constructed from light, breathablei materials such as 100% Polyesteri, Cottoni ripstopi or microfibrei fabrics. They dry quickly, weigh significantly less and are optimised for all-day wear outdoors. In addition, many trekking models have specific outdoor features such as a neck protection flap (legionnaire Cap), UPF 50+ certification, reflective elements or lined ear flaps for winter use. Anyone outside for hours notices the difference after the first hike.
For hikes, fishing trips and anything where sweat and rain come into play, 100% polyesteri is the standard: lightweight, fast-dryingi, shape-stable even after water contact. Cottoni ripstopi is the classic outdoor choice for farmers, hiking clubs and anyone who prefers the traditional natural fibre feel and doesn't regularly soak the cap through. For autumn and winter use with a water-repellenti requirement, nyloni outer materials with polyester crown are right – often combined with foldable ear flaps. Choose pure cotton only for dry summer use and if you like the characteristic thicker cap feel – when wet, cotton dries slowly on the head and can lie cool against the skin.
UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) 50+ means that the cap fabric transmits less than 2.5 percent of UV radiation - the highest possible protection factor for textiles. For all occupations and leisure activities with hours of direct sunlight exposure, this is the reliable standard: agriculture in summer, outdoor guides on full-day tours, anglers at the lake from morning to midday, construction personnel without helmet requirement, nature guides in open terrain. For shorter everyday uses and merch, a standard cap with dense fabric is sufficient - the baseball silhouette protects the forehead and eye area even without an explicit UPF certificate. For full-day exposure, always add a legionnaire cap or sun cream on the neck - the peak alone does not cover the neck.
A Legionnaire's cap combines the classic baseball silhouette with an attached fabric flap at the back that additionally covers the sensitive neck and ear area - named after the headwear of the French Foreign Legion which originated in the Sahara climate. It makes sense wherever you are exposed to direct sunlight for several hours at a time and the classic cap does not protect the sensitive neck: for outdoor guides on full-day tours, anglers at the lake, nature guides, mountain hikers in open terrain, farmers in the field and everyone who works outside in summer. The neck protection flap can be worn all around the cap on models such as the AT420, which additionally protects the ears. For short everyday hikes or merch, the standard baseball silhouette is sufficient.
For mixed club and team orders with different head circumferences, Velcro or buckle models are the safest choice: one-size reliably covers 54 to 62 cm head circumference and can be individually adjusted. FLEXFIT models such as the FX7005 rely on knitted elastanei constructions without a closure – they sit tighter and more form-hugging, but are ordered in two sizes (S/M and L/XL), which makes planning more complicated. For FLEXFIT models, budget roughly 60 per cent L/XL and 40 per cent S/M for mixed adult teams. For guides, clubs and merch campaigns with an unknown size distribution, Velcro or a buckle remains the more pragmatic choice. FLEXFIT is worthwhile above all for active wearers (runners, road cycling crossover) who explicitly want the tight, sock-like fit.
Yes, all models in the range are suitable for decoration – the standard positions are the front (understated, about 6 to 8 cm wide) and the side (small, for secondary brand or sponsor). Embroidery is the highest-quality choice on cottoni models (FX7005) and delivers the most durable image – expect a smooth surface and clean contour. On polyesteri trekking caps, transfer printingi or flex foil is the pragmatic choice because the material doesn't take embroidery ideally. On legionnaire cap models with nape protection flap, the front area is cut smaller than on classic baseball caps – set the motif compactly. For bespoke club or guide orders, contact us directly – we check feasibility and minimum quantities per model.
Camp and trekking caps generally tolerate hand wash or gentle cycle at 30 degrees - hotter washes can deform the peak insert and stretch out hook-and-loop fasteners. Use a mild detergent additive without bleach and fabric softener, because fabric softener coats the fibre and perceptibly reduces the breathabilityi of polyesteri. Tumble dryer is a no-go for almost all models - the hook-and-loop and buckle parts stretch out, and the peak insert can warpi. Dry the cap pressed into shape on a drying rack or over a bowl so that the roundness is preserved. For caps with UPF certification: the treatment is not degraded by regular washing because the UPF arises through the fabric itself and not through a coatingi. For cottoni ripstopi models, the fabric may feel slightly softer after the first wash - this is desired and part of the shrinking process.
FLEXFIT is the US classic for knitted Elastanei construction - the right choice for active wearers and all who like the sock-like, tight fit (FX7005 in Cottoni, FX7005PF in Polar Fleecei for winter). Atlantis and Atlantis Headwear are the Italian premium specialist with strongly pronounced outdoor line and consistent sustainability positioning (ripstopi, rPETi). Beechfield covers the weatherproof range, including the waterproofi Mountain Cap CB355 with ear protection for winter trekking and the cheaper Recycled Camper Cap CB220R. Daiber (James & Nicholson) is the solid German basic range supplier for cost-efficient team orders. Craghoppers Expert is the British outdoor specialist with clear trekking DNA and focus on functional details. For the standard hiking club we recommend Atlantis or Daiber models, for guides with sun focus the Legionnaire's cap variants from Atlantis, for winter use Beechfield CB355.
