Softshell jackets for adults
Wind gone, cold gone, movement stays - between fleecei and hardshell.
The year-round layer for the team, finished with your logo.
Explore the rangeThe jacket that can do everything except heavy rain
Softshelli sits precisely in the gap where fleecei and hardshell fail. The construction foreman who walks the site with a clipboard at seven in April gets no wind protection from fleece - in a hardshell he sweats after ten minutes so much that his underwear sticks. Softshell blocks the wind, lets moisture out, stays mobile. The sales manager on the trade fair terrace in Cologne does not need a rain jacket for the ten metres to the coffee cart - he needs something that is wind-repellent, looks good and does not look like a motorbike jacket over the shirt. Softshell does exactly that. The bicycle courier in the autumn wind, the club coach during outdoor training, the event staff at the street festival - all benefit from the same 3-layer construction: wind- and water-repellenti outer with DWR treatmenti, a breathablei membrane in the middle, a warming fleece lining inside. 185 models from Regatta Professional, James & Nicholson, SOL'S, Stormtech and others - with an elastanei content for maximum freedom of movement or classically in 100% polyesteri, with thin inner fleece for summer winds through to thick winter fleece for year-round use. All models can be decorated, most are available in sizes XS to 5XL for the whole team.

What you can do with our Softshell jackets for adults
From band merch to corporate identity – the right model is the basis for a thousand ideas.
Corporate sales winter for field service & advisory
The head of sales steps out of the company car, the meeting starts in five minutes and the client is already waiting in the reception hall. In these five minutes the softshell jacketi decides the first impression. The RG688 Octagon II in company colour with discreet chest embroidery combines waterproofi weather protection with a semi-matt, serious surface — robust enough for the walk across the car park, adequate enough for the appointment in the boss's office.
Construction, trades & winter service
At six in the morning on the construction site, different values matter than in the corporate world: stretch when bending, waterproofi seams against drizzle, robust zones at the elbow and shoulder. The BCJUC42 Shield Softshelli Pro is classified as workweari and stands up to the demands of winter construction sites, workshops and facility management - hi-vis vest on top, fleecei underneath.
Bike courier & bike-to-work
For the daily ride between client appointment and office you need a softshelli that lies aerodynamically against the body, is windproofi and doesn't immediately soak through in sudden rain. The L03090 Radian from SOL'S with fleecei lining combines a snug fit with windproofing — ideal for bike couriers, delivery services and employees who want to take the way to work in a sporty manner.
Charity event & Christmas market stand
When your company is present at the Christmas market or sponsors a charity run, the support staff need a jacket that keeps your logo visible for three days in any weather. The Z040M Russell Athletic in a uniform colour, with a generous back area for sponsor prints and microfleecei lining against the cold of the sales stands - standard uniform for everyone who stands outside for you.
Sustainable company uniform
Sustainability reports, ESG criteria and the credible handling of recycled material are increasingly becoming selection criteria for B2B customers. The RT911 in 100% recycled polyesteri (Recycled Polyester certified) turns the company softshelli into a visible statement — without waterproofness or breathabilityi having to suffer. Ideal for NGOs, communications agencies and ecologically positioned retail companies.
Personal trainers, club coaches & gym
On the club pitch, in the studio entrance and at outdoor bootcamp, the softshelli is the trainer's most visible surface – here sits the club or studio logo. The Z140 Russell Athletic with stretch and fleecei lining keeps warm when the trainer stands an hour at the pitch edge, and moves along when he demonstrates the next circuit himself. Water column of 5,000-8,000 mm provides security for the downpour.
What the properties mean
3-layer construction
Outer wind/water repellent, membrane, inner fleece — in one fabric.
Softshelli laminates three layers into one fabric: robust DWR outer, vapour-permeable intermediate layer and inner fleecei. Replaces the classic layered look, looks slim on the body and suits 80% of weather conditions from March to November.
Wind and water repellency (DWR)
Not waterproof like a hardshell — but sufficient for 80% of cases.
DWR lets water bead off and protects during drizzle and showers for around 15 minutes. Continuous rain requires a hardshell. After about 20–30 washes, re-impregnate with Nikwax or Fibertec — not a defect, just normal wear.
Breathability (MVTR)
Softshell breathes significantly better than hardshell - the advantage in active use.
Good softshells reach 8,000–15,000 g/m²/24 h MVTR — considerably more than PU-coated rain jackets with 3,000–5,000 g. That's why softshelli is the better daily work jacket as soon as you move or work physically.
Elastane content & freedom of movement
4-6% elastane makes the difference for construction, sport and cycling.
100% Polyesteri is robust and shape-retaining, but sits tighter. With 4–6% Elastanei the fabric stretches when you bend and reach — a must for trade, cycling and coaches. For pure sales roles the more budget Polyester option is enough.
Inner fleece weight
Thin for transition, thick for year-round use — fabric weight decides.
270 g/m² is a pure transitional layer down to about +5 °C, 300 g/m² the all-year all-rounder down to 0 °C, 340 g/m² keeps warm down to -5 °C. Anyone looking for a softshelli for all 12 months should reach for the middle 300er weight.
Six ways to the right softshell jacket
Whether corporate sales, construction crew or coaching bench — here are the curated combinations of brand, construction and features that actually work for softshelli jackets in day-to-day B2B.
Corporate sales team
The semi-matt, serious surface decides the first impression with the client. Important are muted colours (navy, anthracite, black), clean collar, covered zip and space for chest embroidery. Regatta Professional, Tee Jays and James & Nicholson deliver the plannable re-orderability that corporate rollouts need.
Construction, trades & winter service
Here stretch shares from 4% elastane count, waterproof seams against spray rain and classification as workwear. The jacket has to fit over the fleece and mustn't cut into the elbow when lifting. Regatta Workwear and Result Work-Guard are the tested lines here.
Bike daily use & sport
Aerodynamic cut, high wind resistance and fleece inner lining for cold morning hours on the bike. Not too voluminous – the jacket must not catch in the chainring. SOL'S Radian and Russell Athletic here offer the right balance of warmth and freedom of movement.
Sustainable recycled
For companies with ESG reporting and credible sustainability claims. Recycled Polyester certification is the robust evidence, not a marketing label. Important: functionality (waterproof, breathable) must not suffer under the recycling process. Result Recycled and the JN line with recycling certificate are the robust candidates here.
Event, Christmas market & charity
At events and stand duties, the attendants stand outside for hours – the jacket must keep warm, offer generous print areas and be restockable in uniform colour for the whole crew. No premium claim, but constant availability and large back for sponsor prints.
Budget volume for large teams
When 80 employees are to be equipped with an identical softshell, the unit price is decisive. The Result classics and SOL'S basic series deliver solid softshell quality here without a premium surcharge - water-repellent, windproof, with microfleece lining, reliably orderable in standard colours.
The seven softshell brands that actually work in B2B
From the corporate reference Regatta Professional to the sustainable Result Recycled line - here you will find the brands that are reliably reorderable in everyday German business.

From the waterproof Octagon II via the Uproar stretch series to the heated Thermogen Powercell the programme extends — Regatta delivers the plannable combination of weather protection and serious appearance. Consistently available over years, perfect for companies that want to top up every two years.

OEKO-TEX certified, fair manufacture, re-orderable across Europe.

Kids' variants (RT901J, RT901Y) for clubs with a youth division.

Waterproof to 8,000 mm, large back area for sponsor prints, stably orderable in standard colours — ideal for clubs and mid-sized corporate rollouts with a budget focus.

The Z040 series with microfleece lining for winter use on the sidelines, the Z140/Z410 with elastane stretch for active coaches, plus the Z520 with 5,000-8,000 mm water column for outdoor sport. OEKO-TEX certified, fair production.

Which fabric, which cut?
Not every material and not every cut suits every project. Here you will find the right combination.
3-layer construction
Classic softshelli jackets consist of three firmly bonded layers: a robust outer fabric (usually polyesteri), a windproofi and water-repellenti membrane in the middle, and a soft fleecei lining for noticeable warmth. Nine of our adult softshell jackets are explicitly designated as 3-layer construction, and 31 models feature a warming fleece lining for the cold season. Advantages over the 2-layer softshell: higher warmth performance, better wind resistance and a more pleasant feel directly on the base layer — without a separate fleece pullover underneath.
Elastane stretch
111 of our adult Softshelli jackets contain an Elastanei share in the outer fabric or are explicitly designed as Stretch Softshells — more than 60% of the range. The Elastane share is typically between 5 and 10% and delivers noticeable freedom of movement at the shoulders, arms and back area. Particularly important for tradespeople with overhead work, for field-service staff who get in and out of vehicles frequently, and for sports and club teams. Freedom of movement without material stress is the decisive advantage over classic windbreakers and rain jackets without a Stretch component.
Recycled polyester
37 of our adult softshelli jackets carry the 'Recycled Polyesteri' certification – the outer fabric consists entirely or partly of rPETi fibres, obtained from reprocessed PET bottles and plastic waste. The strongest recycling story is held by Result Recycled and Result Genuine Recycled (11 models), plus selected James & Nicholson models with BIONIC-FINISH®ECO treatment and SOL'S Falcon from recycled material. Fibre quality is in no way inferior to classic polyester – same durability, same colour stability, lower resource use. 35 models are additionally certified vegan.
DWR impregnation
Softshelli jackets are wind- and water-repellenti but not permanently waterproofi like classic hardshell rain jackets. The DWR treatmenti (Durable Water Repellent) on the outside lets rainwater bead off and reliably protects against wind - ideal for transitional seasons, light rain and dry cold. In prolonged heavy rain you should reach for a hardshell. Important to know: the DWR finish wears off with wash cycles and can be refreshed with commercially available re-proofing sprays without damaging the material. PFC-free DWRi formulations are increasingly used - check the individual product detail page for the current finish specification.
Taking responsibility
Organic Cotton, Fairtrade, recycled materials: sustainability is our standard.
with OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 - around 46% of the adult softshell jacketi range pollutant-tested
Models from certified fair working conditions — more than half the range
with recycled polyesteri content from PET reprocessing - especially in the Result Recycled and James & Nicholson BIONIC-FINISH®ECO line
Models explicitly labelled vegan — free of animal ingredients in outer fabric, membrane and fleecei lining
All about Softshell jackets for adults
Hardshell is waterproofi (typically 10,000-20,000 mm water column, taped seams, waterproof zipperi) — but less breathablei, stiffer in feel, not warming. Softshelli is wind- and water-repellenti (DWR-impregnated, holds off drizzle and short showers), but considerably more breathable (MVTR 8,000-15,000 instead of 3,000-5,000), more flexible, often combined with inner fleecei and thus already warming in itself. Rule of thumb: those who stand in continuous rain for hours need hardshell. Those who don't want to sweat while working or moving and can cope with occasional showers are better served with softshell. For many corporate teams, the softshell replaces the daily jacket, the hardshell lies in the car for emergencies.
DWR stands for Durable Water Repellent and refers to a thin, water-repellenti coatingi applied to the outside of the softshelli fabric. Freshly impregnated, water beads off in clear droplets — after 20-30 washes or about a year of intensive use the effect fades: water then soaks in instead of beading off and the jacket appears "wetter" although everything is still dry inside. There are two ways to re-impregnate: Spray-On (spray on, let dry) or Wash-In (in the washing machine with impregnating detergent such as Nikwax TX-Direct or Fibertec). After impregnating, a short tumble dry cycle at low temperature or ironing on the wooli setting — the heat reactivates the impregnation.
Elastanei (typically 4-6% in our range as a poly-elastane mix) makes the fabric stretchable in all directions. For professions with many arm movements and changing positions this is a must: construction and trades (overhead screwing, bending, lifting), bike courier and cycle commuters (forward-leaning posture on the handlebars), club coaches and sport (directing, running along, ball playing), event set-up and stage technology (climbing, lifting). For sales teams, reception and executive teams that mainly walk from the car to appointments and otherwise sit or stand, 100% polyesteri is entirely sufficient — the fabric is more shape-stable under frequent washing, often cheaper and visually a little cleaner in drape. Rule of thumb: active professions = elastane, representative professions = 100% polyester.
With softshelli, care is needed: the 3-layer construction contains a membrane that is pierced during embroidery — at this point the jacket is then no longer wind- and water-repellenti, moisture can enter. Nevertheless, embroidery is the standard on most softshells because it looks discreet, durable and high-quality — placed on chest or sleeve (small area), the membrane loss is not significant in everyday use. Sublimation print is difficult to impossible with softshell because the smooth, often dark outer layer does not absorb the dyes. Transfer printi (flex film, thermal transfer) is the gentler alternative — applied to the surface without piercing the membrane. For large logo areas (back) we recommend transfer print, for chest and sleeve logos embroidery.
Wash softshelli at 30 °C on the delicate cycle with liquid detergent - on no account use fabric softener! Fabric softener forms a film on the DWR treatmenti and permanently destroys water repellency. Also avoid heavy-duty detergents with optical brighteners or bleach. Ideally use a special technical detergent (Nikwax Tech Wash, Fibertec Pro Wash) that protects the membrane and preserves the treatment. After washing, a short tumble dry at low temperature or air drying followed by ironing at the wooli setting - the heat reactivates the DWR coatingi. Re-treat every 20-30 washes with a re-proofing wash-in or spray.
For team orders we recommend agreeing on a model with long-term availability — Regatta Professional, James & Nicholson and SOL'S usually carry their softshelli lines unchanged over several years, so that re-orders are still possible in the second or third year. Sizes from XS to 5XL cover the entire team (with some models a separate women's cut, which considerably improves the fit for female colleagues). For finishing we plan the right logo position with you (typically left chest, 8-10 cm width) and technique (embroidery for a small area, transfer printi for a larger one). Muted colours (black, anthracite, marine, company colour) look uniform over years — trend colours date. For order quantities from 20 pieces we're happy to advise on sample process, approval and delivery date.
The inner fleecei determines the warmth performance and the seasonal range of use. Thin fleece (total jacket fabric weight around 270 g/m²) makes the softshelli a pure transitional and windbreak layer for spring, autumn and mild winters down to around +5 °C — very breathablei, ideal for active professions (courier, trainer, tradesperson) and warmer climate zones. Medium fleece (around 300 g/m² total fabric weight, the median in our range) is the classic all-year layer: warms down to 0 °C, works from March to November, and in mild winters all year round. Thick fleece (around 340 g/m² total fabric weight) is the winter layer for construction, field service and everyone who wants to get by without a thick winter jacket even in January at -5 °C — combined with a thin merinoi mid-layer, even usable down to -10 °C.
A detachable hood (via zip or press stud) is a must for anyone who alternates with a helmet or has representative occasions where the hood is in the way. Classic applications: construction, logistics and workshop (take out hood, put on helmet), sales team at the client appointment (more elegant without hood in the office), event staff switching between set-up (with hood) and service (without). For pure outdoor professions (courier, trainer, landscape maintenance) a permanently sewn-in hood is enough, often with a drawcord to widen or narrow — we then recommend models with visor reinforcement so the rain doesn't run into the face. Some softshells have no hood at all and are combined with a separate hood or Buff — that's the most elegant corporate solution.
