80/20 cotton-polyester blend
The dominant material combination in the zip hoodie range. 80% cottoni provides the soft, skin-friendly feel on the outside and inside, 20% polyesteri gives shape stability after washing and prevents distortion at the hood, cuffs and zip placketi. Typical fabric weights range between 270 and 320 g/m². The safe choice for merch, club and corporate applications with print or embroidery finishing — the zip doesn't interfere with the back print.
Organic cotton & Fairtrade
19 zip hoodies with organic cottoni content, often complemented by Fairtrade raw material, fair working conditions and OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100. Top suppliers are the Neutral line (100% organic cotton with Fairtrade, EU Ecolabeli and SA8000i), the B&C; KING/QUEEN series with organic content, plus Just Hoods JH250 and SOL'S Calipso (L04237). Polyester content
The polyesteri share of 20 to 50% is not a cost-saving factor but a deliberate functional decision: faster drying time after washing, considerably less shrinkage at 40° wash and stable hood shape even after 30+ wash cycles — especially important on the zip hoodie because the zipper keeps the shape under tension across the entire front length. The 50/50 classic (Gildan G18600, Roly RY6421, BYBB008/009) is the pragmatic choice for uniform and workweari uses with high wash frequency.
Inner fleece construction & elastane blend
The zip-hoodie-typical warmth effect comes from the brushedi inner fleecei: the polyesteri fibres are roughened after weaving so that air pockets are created that insulate. Rule of thumb: 260 to 300 g/m² produces a light inner fleece for spring and autumn, 320 to 460 g/m² has a densely brushed fleece and wears considerably warmer. For the body-close slim zip hoodie with soft recovery behaviour we additionally offer 95/5 cotton-elastane models (BY069) as well as the 92/8 polyester-elastane construction at Daiber JN1143/JN1144 — the zip hoodie sits close to the body without tensioning when opening the zip.

All about Zip Hoodies
For most club applications, the range of 280 to 300 g/m² is the safe sweet spot: warm enough for autumn and mild winter days on the bench, print- and embroidery-friendly for club logo and sponsor, and with acceptable weight in the sports bag. If your club wears the zip hoodie primarily in winter under the softshelli, go for 320 to 360 g/m². For summer clubs and coaches who often put the zip hoodie on and off, 280 g/m² are more comfortable because they dry faster.
Both are valid options, with different strengths. Metal zippers look more valuable, sound rich when opening and withstand stronger mechanical stress – ideal for premium merch, corporate use and models intended to be perceived as a statement piece. Plastic zips (mostly spiral construction) run more easily and quietly, are more pleasant with frequent opening and closing, and are the standard choice for sports applications. In both cases, look for YKK quality – no-name zips are the most common reason for early complaints.
Yes, with restrictions. A back print on a zip hoodie is easy across the full area because no seam gets in the way — often better than on a closed pullover hoodie, because the hood does not slosh around in the back print area. On the front, motifs must avoid the zip: either a one-sided chest print on the left or right, or a two-part motif that treats the zip as a dividing line. Embroidery and screen-print shops have established templates for this. A continuous front motif across the zip is not possible.
Very well - the zip is made exactly for that. Under a softshelli or winter jacket, the zip hoodie works as a warming mid-layer that opens quickly when it gets too warm inside. Over a T-shirt or shirt, it is the second layer that looks professional when closed in the office and hangs casually open in the park. For bicycle couriers it is ideal because it can be opened at the chest for ventilation while riding, without being taken off completely. For intensive layering use, choose a model with flatter fleecei so the zip hoodie does not create bulges under the outer layer.
Always close the zip before washing — an open zip catches on other garments and pulls threads. Turning inside out protects print and embroidery. Wash at 30 to 40 degrees on the coloureds programme; use fabric softener sparingly (it clogs the fleecei fibres and reduces warmth performance). Dry flat or hang on a wide hanger, not in the tumble dryer (the metal zip heats up and can distort the fabric). Pull cuffs and collar back into shape with your fingers while the fabric is still damp. This depends heavily on the brand and cut type. Established corporate brands like Daiber, Tee Jays and B&C; usually run true to size with European fit. Streetwear labels like Build Your Brand and Independent deliberately fall more generously in oversizei models — that's part of the look. SOL'S and Just Hoods sit in the middle field with a rather comfortable regular cut. For mixed pooled orders we recommend ordering a sample in a standard size and deriving the order sizes from it — the two to three weeks of lead timei save the returns loop afterwards.
Yes, all zip hoodies in our range can be freely mixed by size within a bulk order. Choose a model, provide your logo as a print or embroidery template, and specify the quantity per size in the order. From XXL upwards most brands charge a moderate surcharge (1 to 3 euros depending on the brand); 4XL and 5XL are not available on all models. For bulk orders from 25 pieces it is worth reaching for corporate brands such as Daiber or James & Nicholson — their size consistency between individual batches is the best.
