Explore the rangeWhen 25 degrees and mandatory hi-vis meet
On the construction site in July, at the motorway roadworks on the day shift, in the logistics yard between rolling lorries: the Hi-Vis jacket is unbearable at 30 degrees, but visibility still has to be there. This is exactly where the Hi-Vis shirt comes in - the summer and transitional-season alternative to the classic Hi-Vis jacket. EN ISO 20471 sets the requirements: at least 0.50 m² of fluorescenti surface and 0.13 m² of reflective tape for Class 2 (the typical polo-shirt version); for Class 3 the entire garment must be made from fluorescent material and show significantly more reflective area - which the all-over T-shirts achieve. A road builder sweating in a Hi-Vis jacket in August loses concentration on hot days and, with it, safety - a Hi-Vis polo shirt with reflective stripes delivers both. A traffic marshal on a 20-minute drive to the next site does not need a heavy jacket, but still needs standard-compliance. A facility cleaning team in a shopping centre wants visibility without a construction-site look - a polo instead of a T-shirt creates business-casual with Hi-Vis. Here we show when a polo or T-shirt is right, which brands stand for which target audience and which materials help you survive the businesses' 60-degree industrial laundering.

What you can do with our Hi-Vis shirts
From band merch to corporate identity – the right model is the basis for a thousand ideas.
Building site in summer
When the hi-vis jacket becomes unbearable in July but visibility on the construction site remains mandatory: the KX070 polo in class 2 with wraparound reflective stripes is the summer alternative. 65/35 polycottoni blend withstands construction site washing at 60 degrees, polo collar looks more presentable than the bare-necked T-shirt.
Motorway traffic management
Municipal depot
Parks departments, road maintenance authorities and city cleaning wear hi-vis kit permanently — here reliability over 2-3 years of service is what counts. The YK220 from YOKO provides the basic kit at a low price, is consistently available for reordering and comes in team sizes up to 4XL.
Sustainable CSR tender
Facility management in the shopping centre
Cleaning and maintenance teams in public areas want visibility without a building-site look. The RG271 in contrast design (fluorescenti upper part, navy lower part) offers class 2 Hi-Vis with business-casual effect - customers recognise the staff without the look screaming road construction.
Event security personnel
Festivals, concerts, trade fairs with their own stewarding service need recognisable team clothing with standards compliance for arrival and car park marshalling. The YK310 as a long-sleeve polo covers transitional evenings and looks more polished than the short T-shirt when in contact with audiences.
What the Hi-Vis shirt properties really mean
So that you can decide in a standards-compliant and practical way: here we explain the five most important product features of hi-vis shirts – with their significance, sensible applications and concrete buying tips.
EN ISO 20471 class
The visibility class according to the standard
EN ISO 20471 distinguishes three classes according to fluorescenti and reflective area. Class 2 (typical for the polo) is the standard for roads up to 60 km/h and company premises; Class 3 (typical for the full-surface T-shirt) is mandatory on motorways and in the dark.
Collar type polo or crew neck
The collar decides on look and target group
The polo collar makes Hi-Vis business-casual-capable and looks more polished, the crew necki is the classic T-shirt for maximum freedom of movement and the coolest fit in summer.
Material & Fibre Composition
Polyester base with or without cotton content
Reflective stripes & arrangement
3M Scotchlite or equivalent
Fluorescent colour
Yellow-green or orange to standard
EN ISO 20471 permits three fluorescenti colours: yellow-green, orange and red. Yellow-green is the most common for daytime use and in construction trades, orange is the classic traffic management and road construction colour. Red is rare.
Six ways to the right Hi-Vis shirt
Whether building site, traffic safety or facility management - here are the curated combinations of class, collar shape and brand that work in everyday trade use.
Works-yard summer kit
For depot, road maintenance and facility in summer: Class 2 polo in fluorescent yellow-green or orange, 65/35 polycotton for 60-degree wash, with two all-round reflective bands. Reorderable over years in the same colour fidelity - important for team orders with follow-up wearing.
Motorway and night shift
For traffic management with high vehicle speed, motorway building sites and night work: full-surface fluorescent T-shirt made of 100% polyester with reflective strips on torso and both sleeves. Segmented reflex arrangement withstands physical movement better.
Sustainable CSR Hi-Vis
For businesses with visible sustainability positioning and public clients with CSR criteria: Result Recycled line made of reprocessed PET polyester. Identical standards compliance and protective function as new goods, significantly better CO2 balance and rPET argument for environmental reports.
Facility & customer contact
For facility management, cleaning teams in shopping centres and construction foremen in customer contact: polo instead of T-shirt for a more polished effect. Contrast models with navy bottom hide soiling and look less construction-site. Embroidery area for discreet company logo on the chest.
Traffic safety orange
For road construction, traffic safety personnel and railway line personnel: fluorescent orange as the historical traffic warning colour - visually clearly separated from blue traffic signs and red traffic lights. Standard for all deployments with direct vehicle contact and traffic control.
Budget team for a summer campaign
For summer team kits, event security personnel and campaign weeks: low-cost basic polos and T-shirts from the volume brands YOKO and Regatta. Class 2 compliance, all sizes up to 4XL, constantly reorderable and prepared for company logo embroidery.
The most important Hi-Vis shirt brands
Five manufacturers fully cover the Hi-Vis shirt range - from the British volume base via German industrial classics to the sustainable recycling line.
YOKO
British brand with the strongest-priced offer in the hi-vis shirt segment. Polo, T-shirt and long-sleeve variants in class 2 – the standard for team kit from 50 pieces upwards and a summer complement to the hi-vis jacket. Consistently resuppliable in all sizes up to 4XL.
The Hi-Vis line of the British outdoor brand Regatta - clean workmanship, functional details and the Pro Contract range for businesses with high everyday stress. Ideal for traffic management, road construction and all deployments with high demands on seam stability and reflex processing.
Korntex
German brand with a clear focus on industrially capable Hi-Vis equipment. The range covers Class 2 in polycarbon mix as well as full-surface Class 3 T-shirts with segmented reflective strips. The reference standard for trades and industrial company laundering.
Spanish workwear brand bringing breathable fibre constructions from the Mediterranean climate into the hi-vis segment. Models such as the Vega polo and the Tauri T-shirt are tailored for heat-intensive summer deployments and deliver additional comfort in physically demanding work.
Recycling line of the British Result brand with rPET polyester from reprocessed PET bottles. Identical standards conformity and protection function as new goods with significantly better CO2 balance. The argument for municipal tenders with CSR criteria and businesses with visible sustainability positioning.

Which fabric, which cut?
Not every material and not every cut suits every project. Here you will find the right combination.
100% Polyester
55/45 and 45/55 Cotton-Polyester blend
Wash durability industrial
All Hi-Vis shirts are certified for industrial laundering at 60 °C and demonstrably survive the 25 wash cycles required by EN ISO 20471. Some of the 65/35 poly-cotton models (Korntex polos) are also approved for 95 °C - important for businesses with chemical soiling or a hospital environment. Fabric softener must be strictly avoided, because it coats the fluorescenti fibre and reduces standard-compliance after just a few washes. The reflective coatingi typically lasts longer than the fluorescence - if damaged, remove from service immediately.
Taking responsibility
Organic Cotton, Fairtrade, recycled materials: sustainability is our standard.
are certified to EN ISO 20471 - every hi-vis shirt in the range meets the European standard for high-visibility protective clothing
Models made from recycled PET polyesteri of the Result Recycled line - a CSR-compatible argument for municipal tenders
Minimum wash resistance according to EN standard - in practice usually 40 to 50 cycles until visible fluorescence degradation
Industrial washing possible on all models — Korntex polos in 65/35 polycottoni are in some cases even washable at 95 °C
All about Hi-Vis shirts
Class 2 (typically as a polo shirt with a fluorescenti torso and two reflective bands) is the standard for construction sites, company premises, municipal depots and roads with a speed limit of up to 60 km/h. Class 3 with a fully fluorescent base fabric and reflective on the torso plus sleeves is mandatory on motorways, for night work and in traffic management with high vehicle speeds — a Class 2 polo alone is not enough here. Class 1 is the lowest requirement and may only be worn on its own on cordoned-off company premises without public traffic — combined with a Class 3 hi-vis jacket, Class 1 is sufficient as an inner layer. In case of doubt, check the tender text or the operational risk assessment for which class is required for your deployment situation.
Yes — but with clear rules to preserve the EN ISO 20471 certification. A company logo by print or embroidery is possible without issue on the non-fluorescent areas of the shirt (chest area between collar and upper reflective band, back of the sleeve between reflective rings). Important: the prescribed fluorescenti and reflective area must not be reduced below the standard by the logo — therefore no large-area back prints directly on the fluorescent area. For company logos, we recommend sizes up to a maximum of 10x10 cm on the chest and 15x5 cm on the sleeve. Contact us directly — we check the placement in advance and deliver the shirts back finished.
Hi-vis shirts are designed for industrial washing at 60°C (65/35 polycottoni polos often also for 95°C - check the label) and easily withstand typical commercial washing at a trade laundry. Fabric softener is strictly to be avoided - it coats the fluorescenti fibre with a thin layer and significantly reduces visibility and standard compliance after just a few washes. Tumble drying is approved on most models but should run at medium temperature - overheating damages the reflective coatingi. Turn the shirt inside out before washing so that reflective bands and fluorescent base fabric are protected. If scratches, holes or detachments appear on reflective stripes, the shirt is to be discarded - repaired or tape-patched reflective material loses its standard approval.
Yes — all EN ISO 20471-certified models in our range must demonstrably withstand at least 25 wash and drying cycles under the prescribed conditions without fluorescence or reflective area falling below the standard values. In practice, the 100% Polyesteri models achieve significantly more — usually 40 to 50 cycles until visible fluorescence deterioration. The 65/35 polycottoni mix is more robust in wash behaviour (the Cottoni content permanently withstands 60 °C), but after 30 to 40 wash cycles it shows a slight reduction in fluorescence intensity — recognisable by direct comparison with a new shirt. For critical safety deployment, we recommend annual visual inspection and reordering when fluorescence loss becomes visible. The reflective strips typically last longer than the fluorescence — but they are immediately taken out of service if damaged.
Per Hi-Vis wearer we recommend at least two shirts in rotation - one on the body, one in the laundry. For businesses with weekly laundry delivery, three to four shirts per employee is practical and covers even longer laundry cycles. For summer deployment periods (construction workers, landscaping, traffic safety), plan 25% reserve for unexpected wear and new hires. Brand ranges such as YOKO, Regatta and Korntex are re-supplied over years - so you can easily reorder in smaller batches and do not need to buy 5-year stocks at once. For team orders with company logo, we always recommend 10-15% additional sizes as a buffer for new joiners.
Direct women's cuts are historically rare in the Hi-Vis shirt segment - the majority of the 28 models in our range are men's-cut (23 models) or unisex-cut (5 models). For women wearers we recommend ordering the unisexi models one size smaller than the typical men's size - this gives an acceptable fit without too wide shoulders. Brands such as Regatta and Roly Workwear have partly narrower cuts that also fit comfortably for female wearers. For more critical fit requirements please contact us directly - we have additional women's Hi-Vis cuts available via supplier contacts that are not listed as standard in the range.
The price range in the Hi-Vis shirt segment typically lies between 8 and 25 euros net per piece depending on brand, class and features. Basic polo shirts of the volume brands YOKO and Regatta start in the low-cost range and are the pragmatic basis for team orders from 20 pieces. Korntex and the Class 3 T-shirts lie in the middle price range and offer industrially capable robustness for businesses with high wash frequency. The Result Recycled line with rPETi polyesteri is slightly more expensive but delivers the sustainability argument for CSR communication. For team kit with embroidered company logo, calculate an additional 3-6 euros net finishing costs per piece depending on motif size - we deliver the shirts ready-made.
