Explore the rangeWhen the kitchen is your stage
The chef apron is the only garment that is simultaneously uniform, tool and stage outfit. In the barista team of a café that sends out 250 espressos on a Saturday, the short bistro apron is the only protection between milk splashes and one's own jeans — and at the same time the first thing the guest sees at the counter. In the star-rated kitchen the head chef stands 14 hours at the pass, wipes sauce edges with the bib and needs a model that is still colour- and shape-stable after 200 industrial washes at 95 °C. In the butchery it's about blood, fat and mechanical stress — here the heavy bib apron with reinforced seams and chain fastener wins. In the hotel breakfast team the apron should match the corporate identity, in the pastry shop it shows the embroidery with the business name. What differentiates the models is length, cut, material and embroidery zone. We show here which combination suits which type of operation and with which filters you'll get to the right apron for your team fastest.

Star restaurant & fine dining
When service staff decant wine in front of the guest, the apron has to play along: the CG Workwear Vittoria sommelier apron CGW1135 in wine red or anthracite is the classic - hip-length, with pen pocket and front pocket, understated enough for open kitchen and chef's table.
Butchery & meat processing
Bakery & confectionery
For pastry workbench and open sales counter: the Premier PW150 bib apron covers every pastry-shop CI with 62 colour options — from pastel pink for the café concept to chocolatier brown. Adjustable neck loop for mixed teams, embroidered master title on the chest zone.
Bar, cocktail & night gastronomy
Behind the counter of the cocktail bar, the look counts: the Link Kitchen Wear X983 bistro bar apron in 29 dark and black tones is designed with three front pockets for bar waiter's wallet, speed-rail accessories and waiter's knife — poly-cotton twilli 200 g/m², still deep black after 200 washes.
What the apron properties really mean
So you can make a well-founded decision: here we explain the five key product features of chef aprons in detail — with meaning for daily kitchen use and concrete guidance for your selection.
Material & blend
Poly-cotton, cotton or polyester — depending on the type of kitchen
Length & cut
Bib, waist apron or short bistro apron
Bib apron (90–100 cm) protects from chest to knee — the head chef's choice. Waist apron from the waist is ideal for service and bartenders. Short bistro apron (40–60 cm) with front pockets is the barista classic.
Workmanship & pockets
Reinforced seams, chain pockets, pen pocket
Reinforced seams at the bib attachment, pockets and straps are standard from 220 g/m² and determine service life. Chain pockets are a service must, a side pen pocket on the bib is the hallmark of the chef's apron.
Washability & boil resistance
From 60 °C domestic wash to 95 °C industrial wash with chlorine
Customisation & embroidery
Business name, logo, chef's first name
Six ways to the right apron
Whether café, star-rated restaurant, butchery or bakery — here are the curated combinations of model, material and brand that work in everyday gastronomy.
Café & bar staff
Denim or dark twill with enough front pockets for the equipment. Colours that match the brand CI of a café or bar (denim blue, black, anthracite), cord tie instead of plastic buckle for the artisanal look. Wears over the company T-shirt.
Star kitchen & premium service
Sommelier or classic bistro apron in understated colours (wine red, anthracite, black), with clean seam construction and pen pocket. Ideally coordinated with the chef's coat or white service blouse, available for reorder in sufficient quantities for training new staff.
Organic, eco & farm-to-table restaurant
Certified organic cotton, Fairtrade or EU Ecolabel - for businesses whose sustainability is on the menu. Visible eco labels on the inside tag serve as proof for the guest and as evidence for ESG reporting. Classic bib apron look without plastic buckles.
Restaurant chain & multi-site catering
Large colour palette in identical make-up so the CI colour is precisely hit. Re-order capability over years for new locations and replacements. Bib or full bib apron with adjustable neck loop for mixed teams, sufficient chest zone for logo embroidery.
Bakery & confectionery
Medium-weight poly-cotton or pure cotton, medium-length smock form instead of a short waist apron — covers the belly area when kneading and rolling out. Light colours (white, pastel) for the sales counter, dark ones for the bakehouse. Ties instead of hook-and-loop for the 90-degree wash.
Butchery & meat processing
Water-repellent polyester coating for the meat counter or heavy 100% cotton for the cutting room. Bib protection up to the neck, plastic buckle or breakaway cord at the neck for machine safety. Regularly hot washable (min. 60 °C) or completely wipeable.
The most important apron brands for gastronomy

Ideal for restaurants where waiters and kitchen staff should be on duty in the same colour family but different formats.
SOL'S

Plus organic model L03569 (10 colours) for values-oriented customers and kids' version L990K for family restaurants and cooking classes.
Dennys London
British chef-outfitter brand with a classic English signature: the DL201 denim waist apron in butcher style, the recycled Sustainable line DL200 in 17 colours and the DL022 money-pocket apron with sewn-in wallet for market stalls and takeaway sales. The British classic in the German gastronomy shelf.

Which fabric, which cut?
Not every material and not every cut suits every project. Here you will find the right combination.
65/35 polyester-cotton blend
Taking responsibility

with OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 - just under 70% of the chef apron range pollutant-tested and approved for direct skin contact
from certified fair production - manufacture under audited fair working conditions along the entire supply chain
certified according to EN 15797 for commercial industrial laundering - the longest service life in the textile service is a lived environmental balance
All about Chef aprons
The bib apron (90–100 cm) is the classic head chef's and butcher's apron: it protects chest, belly and legs from splashes when browning, making stock and processing meat. The waist apron (70–90 cm) starts at the waist and is the choice for service staff, bartenders and the pastry chef at the sales counter — quickly put on and taken off, chest free for shirt or chef jacket. The short bistro apron (40–60 cm) is the barista and café service model par excellence: light, nimble, with front pockets for waiter's wallet and order pad. Many operations combine two cuts — bib for the kitchen, bistro for service.
If you have your laundry done externally through a laundry service or work in a hotel, clinic, large canteen or system gastronomy, there is no way around 95 °C industrial washing - you need chlorine-suitable poly-cotton or polyesteri aprons that remain colour- and shape-stable after 200 washes. In smaller cafés, restaurants with their own laundry and at patisseries with a moderate stain load, 60 °C is entirely sufficient - here 100% cottoni models are also usable long-term. Important: with an external laundry, check in advance which wash programmes run there and whether chlorine content and alkaline detergents are in the process - not every apron tolerates both.
Fresh grease stains (butter, oil, roasting jus) should be blotted with kitchen paper as soon as possible and then treated in the pre-wash with gall soap or an enzymatic pre-wash detergent. At 60 °C with an enzyme-containing heavy-duty detergent most grease stains come out — at 95 °C industrial wash with active-oxygen bleach anyway. Treat red wine, berries and beetroot stains before washing with an oxygen bleach (not on coloured aprons untreatedi!) or reach for 100% polyesteri models that generally absorb dyes less well. White aprons tolerate chlorine heavy-duty washes best, dark models should be treated with colour-protecting detergents at 60 °C.
