Branding (textile decoration)
Also known as: textile branding, logo application
Umbrella term for all techniques used to apply brand or company logos, slogans or designs to a textile - from classic screen printing via embroidery to sublimation and woven labels.
Description
Branding in the textile sense refers to applying a brand, company or club logo to clothing. It is the central value-added step in corporate wear, promotional goods and merch, turning a "white T-shirt" into an individual communication medium. Technique choice depends on motif complexity, quantity, garment type and budget.
Key methods are: screen printing (from 25 pieces, ideal for simple colours, very durable), digital printing / DTG (single pieces, photorealistic, less durable), transfer printing / DTF (small runs, multi-colour), sublimation printing (light polyester only, all-over motifs possible), embroidery (premium look, more expensive for complex motifs) and woven labels (sewn-in fabric labels for inside and visible branding).
For corporate-wear sellers branding is often the actual margin - textile cost is low, decoration creates the value. Legally, clients must ensure that trademark and image rights on the applied motif are cleared, otherwise cease-and-desist warnings loom.
