Cradle to Cradle: Material Health

Sub-certificate within the Cradle to Cradle family that assesses the human and ecological safety of every ingredient in a textile.
Description
Cradle to Cradle Certified bundles several sustainability categories (Material Health, Product Circularity, Clean Air & Climate, Water & Soil Stewardship, Social Fairness). "Material Health" is the oldest and strictest single category and looks at the chemical building blocks of a product.
Every substance above defined thresholds is compared against the Banned Lists (ABC-X assessment) and rated bronze, silver, gold or platinum. For textiles this means proving that dyes, finishes and adhesives are neither carcinogenic, reprotoxic, endocrine active nor persistent. Since 2021 the Material Health Certificate is also available as a stand-alone label without having to fulfil the other categories.
