GOTS 7.0 (details)
Also known as: Global Organic Textile Standard 7.0, GOTS V7
World-leading organic textile standard, Version 7.0 since 2023 — fibre (min 70 %/95 %), chemistry, waste water and ILO social criteria.
Description
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world's leading standard for processing textiles from organically produced natural fibres. Version 7.0 has been in force since 1 March 2023 (implementation deadline March 2024). Two label grades exist:
- "organic": at least 95 % certified organic natural fibres
- "made with organic": at least 70 % certified organic natural fibres
GOTS 7.0 requires strict chemical positive lists (banned substances include chlorine bleach, formaldehyde, GMO enzymes, PFC/PFAS and nanoparticles), waste-water treatment per ZDHC MRSL, and the ILO core labour standards: no child or forced labour, living wage, freedom of association, safe workplaces. The entire supply chain (field, spinning, dyeing, garment-making) is certified by accredited bodies such as Ecocert, Control Union, IMO or GCL. Since 2024 GOTS also uses satellite monitoring (ESA cooperation) for cotton traceability.
