Description
ISO 50001 is the internationally recognised standard for energy management systems (EnMS). It requires organisations to systematically measure their energy flows, set targets, assign responsibilities and continuously realise efficiency potentials. The current edition is ISO 50001:2018.
In textile production, wet processes (dyeing, finishing, laundering), dryers, compressors and HVAC are the biggest energy consumers — ISO 50001 targets these directly and makes savings objectively verifiable. It also reduces energy-related greenhouse gas emissions and supports ESG reporting as well as national energy-cost rebate schemes. Certification is delivered by accredited bodies like TÜV, DEKRA, DQS, Bureau Veritas, analogously to ISO 9001.
