Description
ISO 9001 is the world's most widely adopted standard for quality management systems (QMS). It sets minimum requirements for process control, customer focus, risk management and continual improvement. The current edition is ISO 9001:2015; the upcoming revision ISO 9001:2026 is expected in September 2026, with a three-year transition period.
For textile and apparel manufacturers, an ISO 9001 certificate is neither a sustainability nor a chemistry label but proof that processes are reproducible and documented. Large retailers, corporate-wear tenders, public bodies and laundries regularly require it as a baseline. Certification is issued by accredited bodies (TÜV, DEKRA, DQS, LRQA and others) via an initial audit, an annual surveillance audit and re-certification every three years.
