MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX®
Also known as: OEKO-TEX Made in Green
Product label of the OEKO-TEX® family combining harmful-substance testing (STANDARD 100) with social and environmental certification of production sites (STeP) plus QR-code traceability.
Description
MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® is the holistic product label of the OEKO-TEX® Association, introduced in 2015. It combines the harmful-substance testing of STANDARD 100 with certification of the production sites under STeP by OEKO-TEX® (Sustainable Textile & Leather Production). STeP audits facilities on chemical management, environmental performance, social responsibility, quality management and occupational safety.
The core of MADE IN GREEN is traceability via QR code or product ID: every consumer can check on the OEKO-TEX® website in which countries and facilities a textile was produced. MADE IN GREEN is thus one of the few labels that gives consumers product-level transparency.
To carry the label, all processing stages must be either STeP-certified or OEKO-TEX® facilities, and the end product must meet STANDARD 100. MADE IN GREEN is a good mass-market alternative to GOTS or Cradle to Cradle, because it does not require organic content (conventional cotton is allowed) but still covers social and environmental criteria.
