OEKO-TEX ECO PASSPORT
Also known as: ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX, OEKO-TEX chemistry certification
OEKO-TEX certification for chemicals, dyes and auxiliaries in textile and leather production — with three assessment levels.
Description
ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX is an independent certification for chemicals, dyes and auxiliaries used in textile, leather and footwear production. It certifies the chemical suppliers and traders themselves, not the finished garment. ECO PASSPORT therefore acts as an upstream check in the supply chain and as a basis for many downstream STANDARD 100 or MADE IN GREEN certifications.
Assessment runs in three levels: Level 1 is a CAS-number screening plus self-declaration (equivalent to ZDHC MRSL Level 1), Level 2 adds analytical verification and an on-site visit (ZDHC Level 2), Level 3 adds a chemical hazard assessment following the GreenScreen methodology (ZDHC Level 3). Brands benefit from access to an audited database of more than 35,000 approved products and reduced testing cost for downstream OEKO-TEX certificates.
- Certifies chemicals and auxiliaries, not finished products
- Three assessment levels (Level 1–3) aligned with ZDHC MRSL
- Fulfils REACH, CPSIA and ECHA-SVHC requirements
- Pre-certification for STANDARD 100 and MADE IN GREEN
