STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX Product Classes

Four graduated classes within the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX that define increasingly strict limit values for around 1,000 harmful substances depending on skin contact and target group (baby, skin, no skin contact, décor).
Description
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX tests textiles at every processing stage for more than 1,000 harmful substances. Limit values follow four product classes that reflect the intended use of the article and the expected skin contact — the closer to the skin and the more sensitive the target group, the stricter the requirements.
Product Class I applies to baby and toddler articles up to the completed third year of life (nappies, bodysuits, textile toys) and has the strictest limit values. Class II covers articles with direct skin contact (T-shirts, underwear, bed linen). Class III applies to articles without direct skin contact (jacket shell, lining). Class IV covers furnishing and decoration materials (curtains, tablecloths).
- Class I: Babies <3 years — strictest limits, e.g. formaldehyde, saliva fastness
- Class II: Direct skin contact — shirts, bed linen
- Class III: No direct skin contact — jacket shell, lining
- Class IV: Furnishing / decoration — curtains, table linen
- The certificate number always refers to a specific class
