Description
The casual fit is a deliberately unstructured, comfortable fit without strongly pronounced tapering. It omits back darts and cuts side seams straight. Widths at chest and waist are nearly the same, so no V-silhouette is created.
Structurally the casual fit uses straight side seams, often a slightly shorter back hem (round shirttail remains possible) and moderate to generous sleeve widths. The collar is usually lower and less stiffened than on a business shirt. Cuffs are simpler.
Casual fit is popular on leisure shirts, polo shirts and sport shirts. It suits all wearer types because it does not hug the body. Ideal for wearers who do not want a business-fit style on leisurewear but still want a tidy silhouette. Layering (T-shirt under open shirt) works with sufficient room.
Compared to regular fit the casual fit is a little less structured and more relaxed. Compared to loose fit it is still moderately proportioned and does not appear oversized. It suits leisure shirts, chinos and casual blazers; for formal business it is cut too unspecifically.
