Round neckline sitting close to the neck – standard on T-shirts and sweatshirts.
Description
The crew neck is the classic circular neckline that sits close to the neck. It emerged as the neckline of British university rowing crews in the early 20th century and is today by far the most common neckline for T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and fine knits.
Structurally a crew neck is finished with an attached rib or ribbed band that provides shape stability and stretch. A high-quality crew neck is additionally reinforced with neck tape and shoulder tape to prevent stretching. The neckline typically sits 1 to 2 cm below the base of the neck.
