Description
The cropped hoodie is a shortened version of the classic hooded sweatshirt, ending at about the waist or under the ribcage. Originally rooted in US sportswear and 1990s hip-hop, the cut became firmly established in women's and unisex streetwear during the 2010s and is today a standard silhouette for athleisure and college wear.
Typical features are a loose or clearly oversized fit with dropped shoulder line, deep kimono or raglan sleeves and a wide but non-binding rib cuff at the hem. Combined with high-cut sweatpants, leggings or cargo trousers, it creates the characteristic casual high-waist layering look.
