Fashion fit
Also known as: Trendy fit
Fashion-inspired, seasonally variable fit with emphasised design details.
Description
Fashion fit describes a fashion-inspired, seasonally variable fit that follows current trends. The exact proportions vary by season and brand: sometimes tighter and more tapered (slim fashion), sometimes wider and more relaxed (oversize fashion). What all fashion-fit models have in common is their design orientation with special details, material combinations or collar shapes.
Structurally fashion fit allows more freedom than classic fit categories: it can feature asymmetric hems, unusual collars, contrasting bands, special sleeve shapes (puff, balloon) or unusual pattern cutting. The fit is often body-hugging but rarely as strict as a fitted cut.
Fashion fit suits fashion-conscious wearers who want to follow current trends. It is popular on women's blouses with puff or balloon sleeves, on men's fashion shirts with material contrasts and on youthful leisurewear. Classical business occasions on the other hand usually call for more conservative fits.
Compared to regular or slim fit, fashion fit depends on trends and is less durable in its currency – a fashion-fit shirt often looks outdated three years later. In return it allows stylistic accents that classic fits do not offer.
