Description

The fitted cut is an even more body-hugging fit than slim fit. It is pronouncedly tapered, often with visible back darts and clearly narrower sleeves. The chest-waist drop can be 16 to 20 cm. The cut aims at a clearly visible V-silhouette with broad shoulders and narrow waist.

Structurally the fitted cut uses darts in the back panel (often two symmetrical princess seams or waist darts), narrower front panels and a silhouette that tapers further downward. Cuffs are tight, often with one or two adjustment buttons, and sleeves clearly narrower than in regular fit.

The fitted cut suits athletic, slim wearer types. It looks youthful, fashionable and confident but emphasises every body irregularity. On fitted-cut shirts the correct size is particularly important; they can strain quickly if wrongly sized. The cut is popular in business fashion and on stylish leisure shirts.

Compared to slim fit the fitted cut is even tighter and more tapered. Compared to tailor fit, which often shows similar tapered features, the fitted cut usually refers to standard confection.
