Off-shoulder neckline
Also known as: Bare shoulder neckline
Off-the-shoulder neckline that leaves both shoulders completely bare.
Description
The off-shoulder neckline sits below the shoulder caps, so that both shoulders and upper back stay bare. Unlike the Carmen neckline it does not necessarily need an elastic edge – the edge can be cut smooth and low, sometimes with short sleeves that sit on the upper arm.
The neckline emphasises collarbone, shoulders and neck. It is a summer classic for blouses, dresses and jerseys and can look folkloric or elegant depending on the material. Structurally it needs inner silicone strips or bra strap loops so that it does not slip down.
- Both shoulders completely bare
- Often with short cap sleeves
- Silicone strip for grip is common
