Flat rounded collar, named after the 1905 Peter Pan stage costume.
Description
The Peter Pan collar is the common English name for a small, flat-lying collar with rounded corners. The name traces to the 1905 Broadway production of Peter Pan, in which lead actress Maude Adams wore a bodice with exactly this collar.
In German the collar is known by the older name Bubikragen. The American variant is usually a little smaller and looks more girlish; it sits close to the neckline and shows very little skin. Classically white on a dark background, the collar appears on children's clothing, feminine blouses and retro-inspired collections.
