Quilted collar
Also known as: Quilt collar, Padded collar
Padded collar fixed with quilting seams, used on outdoor and winter jackets.
Description
The quilted collar consists of two fabric layers with a padding between them, joined by parallel quilting seams or a diamond pattern. The seams hold the fill – usually polyester wadding or down – evenly in chambers and keep it from shifting.
Quilted collars are mainly used on winter jackets, quilted jackets, bomber jackets and vests. They keep the neck warm without being as bulky as a turtleneck and visually frame the face. The inside of a quilted collar is often trimmed with faux fur, corduroy or fleece to reduce friction on the skin.
