Long sleeve, slim at the top and flaring out at the wrist like a trumpet bell.
Description
The trumpet sleeve is a long sleeve that sits close to the upper arm and flares outward from the elbow or forearm down – the shape resembles a trumpet bell. The flare is created by pattern width, not by gathering; the drape is therefore soft and undulating.
Trumpet sleeves look elegant and slightly dramatic and are used mainly on blouses, evening dresses and kaftans made from flowing fabrics such as chiffon, silk or viscose. In the 1970s they were a symbol of bohemian fashion and have returned cyclically ever since.
