V-neck
Also known as: Vee neck
V-shaped neckline that tapers to a point at the bottom.
Description
The V-neck runs diagonally down from the shoulder points and meets at a point in the middle of the chest. Depth ranges from modest (about 6 cm below the base of the neck) to deep V (down to sternum level). A deep V-neck visually elongates the torso and lets a tie or pendant come to the fore.
Structurally two versions of the V ending exist: the simple over-stitched version (folded and topstitched) and the mitred version, in which the V point is worked especially cleanly with a mitre seam. V-necks appear on pullovers, T-shirts, cardigans and dresses and are common for both men and women.
