Rinse wash

Single cold wash without bleach or enzymes — only removes residual dye and shrinkage potential while preserving the deep raw denim colour.
Description
Rinse wash is the mildest denim wash of all and is often called simply "one-wash" or "rigid wash". After sewing, the jeans is briefly (10-30 minutes) rinsed with clear water or mild soap solution at 20-40 degrees in the drum. The goal is not visual ageing but only removing residual indigo (anti-bleeding) and anticipating residual shrinkage (2-5 percent) so the jeans stays dimensionally stable after the first home wash.
The deep raw denim colour is almost completely preserved. This is particularly desired in the selvedge denim segment: enthusiasts buy rinse-wash jeans to develop individual fade patterns (wear marks, combs, honeycombs) through their own wear. This process takes months to years and is the core ritual of the raw denim cult.
Ecologically, rinse wash is the gentlest of all denim washes: minimal water use, no chemicals, no pumice stones, no energy for drying cycles. Almost all Japanese and American heritage denim brands (Momotaro, Iron Heart, Levi's Vintage) offer rinse wash as the standard finish.
