Description
1680D nylon is one of the strongest flexible textiles in consumer and B2B use. The 1680-denier filaments are typically polyamide 6.6 (PA66), woven in basket or panama structure for outstanding tear strength. It originates from the 1940s US military ballistic nylon spec. Fabric weights sit at 500-700 g/m2. Coated versions exceed 100,000 Martindale cycles per ISO 12947, and tear strength beats typical 600D polyester. It is used in premium business packs, trolleys, tool cases, courier and moto bags, and tactical gear. Downsides: nylon absorbs moisture and is more UV sensitive than polyester, so long outdoor exposure needs PU or silicone coating. In workwear it appears in high-load tool bags and harness systems.
