More affordable UV-stable alternative to 1680D nylon for tough outer shells.
Description
1680D polyester uses the same weave concept as 1680D nylon but polyester filaments. Tear strength is lower than nylon, but UV, hydrolysis and color fastness are noticeably better. Fabric weights are 450-620 g/m2. Typical uses: large business packs, trolleys, tool bags and driver bags for outdoor duty. PU-coated it delivers 5000-8000 mm hydrostatic head per EN ISO 811 and above 80,000 Martindale cycles per ISO 12947. It is cheaper than nylon and thus preferred for corporate bag mass production. In workwear it faces outdoor-heavy tool modules and site bags. Selection: polyester tolerates transfer print heat better, nylon wins on peak tear and tensile.
