DIN EN 13595 motorcycle clothing

Former EU standard for professional motorcycle protective clothing (couriers, police, emergency services) — now largely superseded by the newer EN 17092.
Description
The four-part standard series DIN EN 13595 defined requirements for professional motorcycle protective clothing (jackets, trousers and one- or two-piece suits): construction, abrasion resistance, seam strength and test methods. It targeted professional riders — couriers, police, paramedics — rather than the leisure market.
Because its test methodology (Cambridge abrasion machine) was designed to be very strict, the standard was hardly adopted by the mainstream motorcycle-clothing industry. In 2020 it was superseded by the significantly more practical DIN EN 17092 series (parts 1–6) covering all riders — with three protection classes: AAA (highest), AA and A. EN 13595 is now rarely re-certified; existing stock still carries the label but is technically outdated.
