EN 13595 motorcyclist protective clothing (details)

European standard for motorcycle clothing as PPE — sets abrasion, tear and seam strength in four levels.
Description
The four-part standard EN 13595 (2002) defines requirements for motorcycle protective clothing as personal protective equipment (PPE). Part 1 specifies general requirements, part 2 abrasion resistance in the Cambridge test, part 3 burst strength and part 4 tear strength — each graded by zone 1 (high risk: shoulder, elbow, hip, knee), 2, 3 and 4 (low risk).
Since 2018 the updated standard EN 17092 (classes AAA, AA, A, B, C) is additionally available as an alternative basis for CE-certified motorcycle clothing — both exist in parallel. EN 13595 imposes higher abrasion requirements than EN 17092 and is used primarily for racing and track suits.
