EN ISO 15797 industrial laundering
Also known as: industrial laundering standard
Standard for testing industrial launderability of workwear; PRO-Label as care mark.
Description
EN ISO 15797 defines the test procedures for industrial washing and finishing of workwear and is the basis for lease suitability in corporate and workwear. It defines eight standardised wash cycles (wash-spin type) and the following finish methods (tunnel finisher, calender, ironing). After washing and drying, garments are assessed for dimensional stability (shrinkage), colour fastness per ISO 105, seam puckering, self-smoothing and appearance/function. If garments pass repeatedly, they may carry the PRO-Label, which signals to the commercial laundry that they may be industrially washed and dried without loss of fit or colour. Combined with PPE standards such as EN ISO 20471 or EN ISO 11612, 15797 additionally ensures that protective performance is preserved through industrial washing over life. Without a passed 15797 test textiles are usually unsuitable for real textile service and leasing.
