EN ISO 20345:2011
Also known as: safety footwear standard
European standard for safety footwear with 200 J toe protection and classes SB, S1, S1P, S2, S3, S5.
Description
EN ISO 20345:2011 is the European and international baseline standard for safety footwear. It sets the 200 J impact / 15 kN compression toecap and groups shoes into classes: SB baseline, S1 adds antistatic, heel energy absorption and fuel resistance, S1P adds penetration resistance, S2 adds water-repellent upper, S3 adds penetration and cleated sole, S4/S5 all-rubber/plastic boots. Extra markings such as HRO (heat-resistant sole), HI (heat insulation), CI (cold insulation), WR (waterproof), M (metatarsal) and AN (ankle) can combine. The 2011 edition is still widely used but superseded by EN ISO 20345:2022, which adds classes S6, S7 and the PL/PS penetration markings. CE marking as PPE cat. II follows Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
