New safety shoe standard from 2022 with classes S1 to S7, textile puncture protection S3L/S1PL and slip mark SR.
Description
EN ISO 20345:2022 is the new European standard for safety footwear PPE category II and replaced the previous EN ISO 20345:2011 on 30 June 2022. Key changes: new classes S6 and S7 for waterproof shoes (S6 = former S2 WR, S7 = former S3 WR); clear split between metallic and textile puncture protection with new suffixes S3L, S1PL, S5L and S7L (L = textile); new suffix SC for scuff protection on the toe cap; new slip test, with the old marks SRA, SRB and SRC dropped and replaced by the single mark SR when the shoe passes on ceramic tile with glycerine; orthopaedic safety shoes are split into three types. The 200 J toe cap remains the base feature of every class. Transition period runs for shoes already certified under 20345:2011, but new procurements should specify 20345:2022.
