Holster pocket

The holster pocket is a thigh-mounted pouch that folds out of the trouser body or clips off completely. Originally from carpenter and joiner outfits, it keeps tools such as folding rule, screwdriver or nails in immediate reach without limiting movement. Modern workwear brands build them from Cordura or 600D polyester and reinforce the mounting with bartacks. Key criteria are seam and tear strength, compartment layout for heavy tools, and compatibility with zip or snap mounting. Combined with knee-pad pockets they define the typical craftsman trouser. On EN ISO 20471 hi-vis garments they must not permanently cover the retroreflective stripes.
