IEC 61482 / EN 61482 — Arc flash protective clothing

Standard series for protective clothing against thermal hazards of an electric arc during live working.
Description
The IEC 61482 series (adopted in Europe as EN 61482) defines testing and requirements for protective clothing that shields workers on live electrical equipment from the thermal effects of an arc flash.
Part 1-1 (open-arc test) provides the ATPV or EBT value in cal/cm². Part 1-2 (box test) classifies garments as APC 1 (4 kA test current) or APC 2 (7 kA). Part 2 sets product-specific requirements for garments — design, materials, additional tests, labelling.

- Part 2: requirements for finished garments
- Complements EN ISO 11612 (heat/flame) and EN ISO 11611 (welding protection)
