Side-release buckle

Two-part plastic snap buckle with sprung side prongs — the standard closure for backpacks, belts and load-carrying gear.
Description
The side-release buckle (SR buckle, Fastex buckle) consists of a male part with two sprung prongs and a female receiver. Snapping them together produces an audible click; to release, the prongs are squeezed inward. Originally developed by ITW Nexus (formerly branded Fastex, USA); the brand name Fastex is still commonly used as a generic term.
Common sizes cover webbing widths of 15, 20, 25, 38 and 50 mm. Materials are typically acetal (POM) for high stiffness or polypropylene for lighter applications. For military and outdoor use, reinforced versions with metal inserts reach higher loads (typically 100–200 daN depending on size).
