YKK Vislon zipper

YKK Vislon is the range of plastic zippers with teeth (also called elements) individually injection-moulded onto the cotton or polyester tape. Vislon is typically separating, available in one-way and two-way versions and in tooth widths 5, 8, 10 mm, with size codes such as 8VS (8 mm, Vislon Standard) or 10VS. Advantages over coil and metal zippers: lighter than metal, very stable tooth edge against twisting, more comfortable on travel bags (no textile fibre jamming), and temperature-stable well below -20 C. Drawbacks: bulky and visually present, higher material thickness. Delrin is YKK's trade name for particularly heavy Vislon chains made of polyoxymethylene (POM/acetal), used in tarpaulins, tents and convertible tops.
