Coral fleece

Very soft high-pile fleece made from polyester microfibres with a coral-like surface.
Description
Coral fleece is a high-pile fleece made from fine polyester microfilaments (0.5-1 dtex) whose surface, after brushing and shearing, resembles a coral structure. At 3-5 mm the pile is significantly higher than in classic 200-weight fleece, making the fabric extremely soft, plush and insulating. Construction is usually a warp-knit base, occasionally circular knit.
Weights range from 220 to 350 g/m². Coral fleece insulates very well thanks to high air volume yet stays lightweight. The hand is unusually soft and often described as "cashmere-like". Downsides: higher microplastic shedding per wash than short-pile fleece, and the dense fibres can build up static charge.
Typical uses: throw blankets, baby bathrobes, loungewear, slippers, soft inner linings for hoodies. Brands such as Snuggie or Vellux offer coral fleece throws. Care: 30 °C without fabric softener, Guppyfriend bag recommended, low tumble or air dry.
