Double rib

Ribbing binding structured on both sides with a dense, elastic look — also called full-needle rib.
Description
Double rib refers to a rib binding produced on all needle beds and needle rows of a double-rib machine — every needle in both cylinder and rib dial is active. The result is a very dense, symmetrical rib structure identical on both sides, usually visible as 1×1 or 2×2 rib.
Gauges range from 8 to 16. Materials: cotton, merino, wool, cashmere, blends with elastane. Weights 280-450 g/m². Double rib is significantly heavier and denser than a simple rib on interlock construction, stretches strongly across the needle direction and does not curl at the edges. The hand is warm, elastic and shape-retaining.
Uses: turtleneck pullovers, collar and cuff areas of premium sweaters, rib-knit dresses, loungewear sets, body-fit tees. Brands such as COS, Uniqlo Ribbed and John Smedley Doubled Rib use the binding as a signature. Care: 30 °C delicate, turn inside out, dry flat.
