Ottoman rib knit

Circular or flat knit fabric with very wide, sculptural lengthwise ribs reminiscent of ottoman wovens.
Description
Ottoman rib knit is a knitted fabric in which particularly wide face-to-face ribs with intermediate tuck rows are produced on double-bed circular knitting machines (or on flat knitting machines). The visual effect resembles woven ottoman fabric: pronounced lengthwise ribs that are clearly coarser than 1x1 or 2x2 rib knit.
Because the tuck stitches between the ribs trap a lot of air, the fabric is voluminous, warm and yet stretchy across the ribs. Ottoman rib knits are very popular in autumn/winter collections for dresses, turtleneck and mock-neck sweaters, suits and baby sets.
