Description

Peach finish involves treating the fabric surface with very fine diamond-dust rollers (emerising) or fine emery paper. Only the topmost fibre ends are minimally lifted, producing a very short, fine nap of 0.1-0.3 mm. The material afterwards feels velvety-soft like the skin of a peach — hence the name.

Peaching is applied above all to microfibre polyester fabrics (peach-skin poplin for blouses and trousers), to cotton poplin shirts and to sports softshells. Raising is so fine that it does not obscure the weave structure; the fabric still looks crisply structured but has an unmistakably softer, more premium hand.

Advantages: very pleasant skin feel, low volume increase, hardly any pilling, no lint. Drawbacks: higher price due to elaborate process; the peach effect slowly diminishes with frequent washing and friction. Care: 30-40 °C, no fabric softener, low tumble; peaching is often combined with silicone softener for long-term hand.
