Plush knit
Also known as: Knitted plush, Loop plush
Circular knit with a high, soft pile side of cut or uncut loops.
Description
Plush knit refers to a circular-knitted fabric with a separate pile yarn whose loops are formed particularly high (5-10 mm) and dense on one side. After knitting, the loops are either sheared and cut (plush binding) or left uncut (loop plush). The result is a plush, soft, markedly more voluminous surface than in classic fleece or terry.
Materials: predominantly cotton (100%) for baby and loungewear plush, alternatively polyester microfibres for faux fur and stuffed toys. Weights 300-500 g/m². The base is usually an interlock or circular ground into which the pile yarn is additionally laid. On cylinder machines with adjustable sinker height, pile height can be precisely controlled.
Uses: baby wear (nicki plush, baby bathrobes), loungewear onesies, high-quality stuffed toys, faux-fur collections. Brands: Steiff (plush toys), Nici, Aden+Anais Sleep Sacks. Care: 30 °C without fabric softener, low tumble, brush to fluff up.
