Tricot warp knit
Also known as: Tricot knit, Tricot fabric
Fine warp knit on tricot machines — smooth, light, run-resistant.
Description
Tricot warp knit is produced on tricot machines with compound, spring-beard or latch needles. It belongs to the warp knit family and is particularly fine, smooth and run-resistant. Gauges range from 28 to 40, allowing yarn counts below 33 dtex. Standard bindings are tricot, charmeuse, locknit and Milanese.
Typical weights are 50-150 g/m². Materials: polyamide, polyester, elastane. The hand is smooth and fluid with a directional drape; the binding creates a visible V-rib structure on one face. Tricot warp is very dimensionally stable, with little stretch in the warp direction and considerable stretch in the weft direction.
Classic applications: lingerie, briefs, linings, sports basewear, car-seat covers, flag fabrics, digital-print substrates and light activewear. For sublimation printing smooth polyester tricot is standard. Care: 30 °C delicate, no tumble for polyamide.
