Waffle piqué

Circular or waffle knit with three-dimensional raised honeycomb structure — insulates via air pockets.
Description
Waffle piqué (English "waffle knit" or "thermal knit") is a knit binding in which alternating tuck stitches and knit-purl combinations create small square depressions. The three-dimensional honeycomb structure resembles a Belgian waffle — hence the name. The elevations are 1.5-3 mm high and trap air pockets, giving the fabric excellent insulating properties.
Base material is mostly cotton (100% or blends with merino/polyester), rarely pure wool. Weights range from 200 to 300 g/m². Waffle piqué is used for long underwear (thermal waffle shirts), loungewear, babywear, inner sides of bathrobes and modern waffle sweatshirts.
The classic American "thermal Henley" or Alternative Apparel waffle shirt are iconic uses. Hospitality bathrobes also use waffle piqué for its high absorbency and low drying volume. Care: 30-40 °C, low tumble, no fabric softener so the honeycomb structure is preserved.
