PrimaLoft's top-tier insulation – finest microfibres, retains warmth when wet almost like down.
Description
PrimaLoft Gold is the top performance tier from US company PrimaLoft, Inc. (Latham, NY – independent since 2012, not part of 3M!). Base: ultra-fine polyester microfibres (roughly 0.4–7 denier) with a permanent hydrophobic treatment.
Result: 96 % of the insulation value is retained when wet (manufacturer test, versus roughly 30 % for untreated down). Insulation power: about 0.92 clo per 100 g/m2. Variants: Gold Active+ (stretch), Gold Down Blend (mixed with down), Gold Eco (up to 70 % recycled polyester). Originally developed for the US Army.
