Description
Bias tape or edge binding tape is a fabric strip 2-6 cm wide that is cut at a 45 ° angle to the grain. The diagonal cut makes it stretchy and shape-conforming, allowing it to follow curves, crew necklines, armholes and pocket openings without puckering.
It is applied as double-fold binding (both edges visible) or as edge binding (visible on one side only) and replaces or supplements overlock, rolled hem and blind stitch. In addition to classic cotton, tapes in satin, jersey and PU faux leather are common. For bedding, cushion covers and children's clothing it is a standard finishing item.
