Blind stitch

Invisible hem stitch – only a few threads catch the face side, ideal for suits and blouses.
Description
The blind stitch is a hem seam in which the needle catches only a few fibres of the face fabric so that no stitch pattern is visible on the outside. It is sewn on a curved needle (Strobel 141-23, Union Special 39500) with one upper and one lower thread; stitch density is 2–3 per cm.
Seam load is low (10–20 N/cm); it serves purely a clean appearance. Blind stitches appear on trouser hems, blouses, jackets, shirt collars and curtains. Sample products at Clubmartin: business blouses, chinos and fine merino knits. A slightly resilient fabric is required so that the needle push does not pierce through.
