Description

In a bonded seam, two fabric layers are joined by a thermoplastic reactive adhesive (Bemis Sewfree, Framis Ipertape) under heat and pressure (140–160 °C, 3–6 bar, 8–15 s). The finished garments show no thread marks, no needle holes and almost no bulk – hence the trend in sport, outdoor and baselayer wear.

Used for compression wear, softshells, running jackets, yoga leggings, seam-optimised T-shirts, sports bras and high-end rain jackets. Advantages: no chafing points, waterproof without extra tape. Drawbacks: less stretchy than flatlock, hard to recycle, adhesive ages under UV and heat.
