Description
A buttonhole with double bartack is an industrial buttonhole variant in which both short ends are closed and reinforced with an additional densely stitched bar-tack (usually zigzag or crossed with 28 – 42 stitches). It is used primarily on high-stress garments — trouser waistbands, bib overalls, chef's jackets, corporate blazers, uniform trims.
Typically executed as an eyelet buttonhole (round hole for the button shank) or a linen buttonhole (straight), produced in a single operation including the bartack on specialised buttonhole machines (Reece, Juki, Dürkopp). The double bartack distinguishes workshop tailoring from simple mass production; industrial producers often list it explicitly as a quality feature.
