Description

The coverstitch (ISO 4915 class 406/407) is formed with 2 or 3 needles and one lower looper. The top shows parallel rows of straight stitches, the bottom a zigzag looper thread that covers the raw edge and prevents fraying. Elasticity 40–70 %, strength 60–100 N/cm.

It is the standard hem stitch for T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, sport leggings, sports bras and baby bodies, also used for mock flat-felled seams on jersey. Sewn on coverstitch machines like Juki MF-7523, Pegasus W662 or Yamato VC2700 with textured looper yarn.
