Crescent yoke
Also known as: Western yoke, Curved yoke
Curved crescent-shaped back yoke – typical of western and country shirts.
Description
The crescent yoke is a curved variant of the classic back yoke. It originates in American western wear where cowboys decorated their shirts with the characteristic saddle arcs. The arc extends across the shoulder blades and is often executed in contrast stitching (double topstitch, 6 mm gauge, 4 stitches per cm).
Besides the visual feature, the crescent yoke offers extra back movement because the fabric picks up a slight curve. Used on denim shirts, twill country shirts and check flannels. Sample products at Clubmartin: country flannel, western denim shirt, ladies' check shirt. Double-seam strength 140–200 N/cm.
